Over the past couple of weeks we have seen lots of the Switch, and lots of new game trailers for the new console. This all looks great, however there is one problem that could flaw the new console. Publishers.
If publishers don’t get behind Nintendo and the Switch then the wider gaming audience is less likely to buy the Switch. Nintendo has always been aimed towards the family and there is nothing wrong with this, it is Nintendo’s market but with such a great product, this could be Nintendo’s time to take on Microsoft and PlayStation.
The lineup of games that will be available on launch is disappointing however there should be enough variety to keep you going for a month. The five games on release are:
Most of these titles are Nintendo’s own, but I am surprised that aren’t releasing games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on launch. More games will be released at the end of April.
So why could publishers affect the Nintendo Switch? Nintendo has such an anticipated product that is great for a family or a gamer on the go, and if publishers develop games for the switch that are well optimised and of large variety then people from all walks of gaming will fall in love with the Switch.
The formula is simple: More games = more gamers. Well, maybe it’s not quite that simple, the games have to be good for a start and the platform, in this case the Switch, has to perform well. I don’t think Nintendo will have a problem with that though.
